3rd Annual Buffalo Disc Golf Tournament
The 3rd annual Buffalo Disc Golf Tournament held on June 14 was another great success with competitors traveling from around the region to participate. Over 50 people attended and enjoyed the great weather and course conditions. Due to all the rain the area had been receiving, only two course modifications were needed to avoid the pools of water. Even with playing alternate tee pads for one of the holes, many competitors choose to throw their disc over and around the huge pool of water instead of the narrow-wooded path. It was fun to see the talent that these players have!
The Novice category had competitors as young as 10 who tossed their discs on the temporary 10-hole course that was set up the day prior. These baskets were scattered around the property from home plate of the ballfield to the top of the playground structure. There were lots of smiles and laughter as they navigated the course.
In the Open category, there were some casual players and competitive players from around the region. In the end, course knowledge paid off because 3 Buffalo residents and one Montrose resident finished in the top 4. A sudden death playoff was needed to determine the winner of the cash, donated by Play It Again Sports of Buffalo.
Justin Prince and Isaac Erhard duked it out for 1st place and settled the score on the first playoff hole. Justin came away with the win!
Kurt Oakland and Robert Weege went head-to-head for the 3rd place trophy and cash from Play It Again Sports. This was a close battle with the two of them playing 6 more playoff holes until the winner, Robert Weege, outthrew Kurt by one stroke.
