Trees and the Urban Forest
Buffalo Urban forestry refers to the care and management of single trees and tree populations in our local, urban setting for the purpose of improving our environment. Urban forests help to filter air and water, control storm water, conserve energy, and provide animal habitat and shade within an urban setting. Urban forestry advocates the role of trees as a critical part of the urban infrastructure. Maintenance within Buffalo’s urban forest is a team effort consisting of crews from Parks, Public Works, and Utilities departments.
