Sturges Park is a beautiful multi-use park that is the showcase of the Buffalo Parks & Recreation system. The park contains matures trees, 1297 feet of lake frontage, a fishing pier, a boat landing, and Sturges Spring runs year- round. There are (2) large Pavilions/Shelters that can be reserved online for events, gatherings, or family reunions with plenty of benches, picnic tables, and cooking grills.  The upper shelter is close to the play area so is perfect to reserve if you have young children and the lower shelter is close to the lake which works great for family reunions where you can enjoy the beach or rent a boat from the Parkshore Pavilion.

Playground & Workout AreaBig Chair

The park has many amenities that can be enjoyed by all.  For the younger kids there is a huge play area that includes (2) play structures, a climbing structure, merry-go-round, swing sets, and interactive musical instruments. Teenagers and adults can enjoy the basketball court and the HealthBeat® Outdoor Fitness System (donated by the Buffalo Triathlon) for your outdoor workouts.

Walking/Running Path

Sturges Park is used by many for their daily walk/run as there is a concrete trail that runs throughout the park adjacent to Buffalo Lake and runs past downtown Buffalo and hooks up with the trail on Hwy 35 on the north shore of the lake. While enjoying your walk through the park make sure to stop and experience the Musical Instrument Trail (PDF) donated by the Buffalo Rotary Club.

Bandshell - Concerts in the Park

There is a band shell, with new tiered grass seating area, that is used for Concerts in the Park during summer, as well as other events.

Buffalo Days

Sturges Park is also the main gathering area for Buffalo's Annual Buffalo Days event that is a week-long community event sponsored by the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce which includes, Fishing Clinic for Kids, Carnival, Food Vendors, Movie in the Park, Fireworks & Beer Garden and Parade.

Sturges Park Bandshell Area Improvements

The Parks Advisory Board has had this new design on it’s agenda for a few years and decided on the tiered grass approach as it was more economical to construct and will be easier to maintain. The new tiered hillside will make it easier and safer to watch performances at the bandshell from your lawn chair.
