Agencies that study health effects and regulate radio frequency technologies such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have determined that advanced metering equipment is safe for use in and near homes.
According to the FCC, radio frequency electromagnetic field levels are greater in common household items such as Wi-Fi router, microwave ovens and cell phones, than from an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meter. The low levels emitted by an AMI meter have shown no known health affects and have been deemed safe.
