Make the Switch and Power Your Future

When the time comes for you to make the switch to an Electric Vehicle (EV), the City of Buffalo has a rebate 
(up to $500) for home installed 240-volt electric chargers.

• Lower fuel costs
• Reduced emissions

Rebate Requirements

1. Completed application and copies of the EV charger and installation receipts.
2. Address located in or Buffalo Municipal Utilities (BMU) service territory.
3. The EV charger is for road vehicles only.
4. Energy supplied to the EV service must be used for the sole purpose of electric vehicle charging. All other uses are prohibited.
5.  Rebate will be processed as a credit on the customer's utility bill. 

How to Apply for a Rebate

• Contact City of Buffalo Utility Department at 763.684.5432 before purchasing a charger to ensure that rebate funds are still available. 
• Select and purchase qualifying equipment.
• Complete the EV Charger Installation Rebate Application (PDF). 
• Submit the completed rebate application and a copy of the invoice or itemized receipt, indicating the brand and model purchased, by mail or electronically on our website.
