Spring Clean-Up Days

April 24th & 25th will provide City residents an opportunity to dispose of a wide variety of items including appliances, tires, electronics, and other items.  A fee will be charged for disposal of all items with cash or local check being accepted.  Residents will be asked to present identification (with proof of residence) prior to disposing of items. Be on the look-out for a flyer with all the details and fee schedule for Spring Clean-Up Days via this website, social media, electronic sign or local papers.

About the Adopt-a-Catch Basin Program

The City of Buffalo is home to hundreds of catch basins which collect stormwater from streets and neighborhoods. This run-off flows directly to our lakes, rivers, wetlands and ponds. Catch basins play an important role in managing stormwater, but also acts as a conduit for trash, debris, and pollutants. 

Why Adopt?

To help protect water quality and keep our community clean, the City of Buffalo is inviting residents and business to "Adopt-a-Catch Basin"  and commit to keeping it clear of litter and debris. Together, we can make a difference in our watershed!

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone! People of all ages, individuals, organizations, and businesses are welcome to participate.

Overview

City of Buffalo Municipal Utilities is beginning a new era of service. The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project will involve installing new electric and water meters throughout the entire city. The new equipment will allow us to provide improved service, operational efficiencies, and better billing information.

The installation of the new smart meters will begin in the spring of 2025. Due to the unique features of each type of installation, they will be installed by neighborhood with the assistance of a third-party vendor - Utiliuse.

Transportation Safety Action Plan

Project Overview

The City of Buffalo is developing a city-wide Transportation Safety Action Plan that evaluates safety issues for people driving, walking, biking, using Trailblazer Transit, or using a wheelchair. This plan will identify safety issues and problem areas and then recommend potential projects and strategies to improve safety for the people who live, work, or play in Buffalo.

What this Project Will Do

• Evaluate city-wide car crash data
• Identify the most critical transportation safety problem areas in the city
• Develop preliminary design ideas for select priority streets or intersections
• Test safety improvements at select locations to understand their impacts
• Create a Transportation Safety Action Plan aimed at reducing crashes on our streets

Project Overview

With the completion of the 2040 Downtown Plan, Buffalo is moving forward with the first phase of revitalizing the northeast downtown area streets. This project focuses on improving sections of 1^st Ave NE, 3^rd St NE, 2^nd St NE and 1^st St NE including:

• Making downtown greener and more connected
• Creating inviting streetscapes that encourage pedestrians to support downtown businesses
• Adjusting parking areas to better fit the needs of downtown
• Creating flexible, multi-use public spaces to allow for a wide range of activities and events
