[ARCHIVED] Buffalo Strong Week Programs

Buffalo Strong Spotlight

Community Mental Health Awareness Week Activity Schedule

These events will all be head at the Buffalo Community Center.

Monday, February 6th

Anxiety and Depression Presentation - 11:00 AM
Though we often think of stress and anxiety as interchangeable - and they do share many of the same physical and emotional symptoms - they have important distinctions to recognize. Being able to identify stressors in your life and your internal reactions can help you learn how to manage some of the symptoms you might be experiencing.

You are not alone, if it's you or someone you love who struggles, there is hope. During this 60-minute presentation you will learn how the human mind works and how to work your human mind, to live your best life. Dress in comfortable clothes and be ready to practice real life techniques to calm the mind and just breathe.

Happiness in Action with RSVP - 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Register to attend this service and social eventwhere you’ll work with others to create Happiness bags with useful items to be delivered to local individuals in need. Happiness in Action is fueled by CentraCare's Bounce Back program, and we incorporate some basic information and tips to make a difference in your own mental health and the lives of others.

There is no cost to spread happiness, but you must be age 55 and older and RSVP for this event because space is limited.

Call the RSVP office at 763-765-3036 to register.

Tuesday, February 7th

Addiction Recovery Program Speakers - 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Jeff Jensen from Lakeside Academy will be here to speak on the services they have to offer teens in recovery as well as a great testimony from one of their own teens in the program. There will be a short intermission where Joseph Wheelock will perform some music & time for refreshments.

Wrapping up the night will be Billy Hawkins from Rooted Men’s Ministry. Billy is a former Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge Graduate. After graduation he went on to Ministry School. Billy has a passion to see men be better fathers, faithful husbands, and men who God will use for His Kingdom. Billy ministers to men who are in prison, in recovery, and men who need mentoring.

We encourage all to come listen to both speakers inspiring messages of recovery.
