Winter 2008 Issue

For a second year home starts were down in 2007 with a total of 21 single-family homes and 32 townhomes for a total value of $11,982,709. Other cities in Wright County saw housing starts down as well.

As was the case in the recent past many residential alterations and miscellaneous permits were issued. Homeowners completed basements, added decks and garages and various home improvements. In 2007 the City issued a grand total of 863 building permits and in 2006 issued 936.

New industrial and commercial construction included the new Ag Service Center on Brighton Avenue South, four hangers at Buffalo Airport and the Wright County Jail project at 2300 First Avenue Northwest, north of the Wright County Public Works building on TH 25 North. The Jail building permit valuation was $12,800,000.

The valuation of permits in 2006 was $51,216,971 and in 2007 totaled $42,822,336.
